Autopass for driving into Singapore

Autopass is LTA's electronic identification and payment card for foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore. It records vehicle entry and exit and is used for applicable fees and tolls.

Essential items before entry

LTA states that foreign-registered vehicles must have a valid Autopass card, insurance, road tax, the applicable LTA approval email and proper front and rear licence plates. Keep the supporting vehicle documents available when travelling.

One card belongs to one vehicle

An Autopass card is encoded with the vehicle's particulars and is not transferable. A replacement vehicle requires its own application even if the registration number remains the same.

Apply before the journey

Use LTA's official online service and allow sufficient processing time. The current LTA guide recommends applying at least two weeks before driving into Singapore when a new card is required.

At Woodlands or Tuas

  1. Follow checkpoint and officer instructions.
  2. Use the Autopass card as instructed to register the vehicle trip and settle applicable charges.
  3. Confirm that the transaction or entry/exit registration is successful before leaving the checkpoint.
  4. Maintain enough stored value and resolve any displayed error at the appropriate LTA office.
