Community crossing time

Travellers can anonymously report which checkpoint they used, their direction, total crossing duration and when they finished. We do not ask for a name, phone number, vehicle number or precise location.

Singapore-to-Malaysia and Malaysia-to-Singapore reports are calculated separately. Opposite directions are never combined into the same current median, trend or checkpoint recommendation.

Current level

The displayed number is the median of reports submitted for that checkpoint during the last three hours. Median is less easily distorted by one unusually fast or slow journey.

• Smooth: under 30 minutes
• Moderate: 30–59 minutes
• Heavy: 60–89 minutes
• Severe: 90 minutes or more

Confidence

Confidence is based on recent accepted sample count: low for 1–2 reports, medium for 3–7, and high from 8 reports. No reports means no estimated level. If one identified device or network group supplies more than half of a signal window, confidence is capped at low.

Automatic data-quality checks

Reports must describe a crossing completed within the last two hours. Device and connection limits reduce repeated submissions. When at least five comparable reports exist, a new value far outside the recent median and median absolute deviation is quarantined instead of changing the public estimate.

Checkpoint recommendation

We only highlight one checkpoint when Woodlands and Tuas each have at least three accepted reports for the same travel direction, neither signal is dominated by one identified source, and their medians differ by at least 20 minutes. A high-confidence recommendation requires at least eight reports at each checkpoint. Your total route can still make the other crossing a better choice.
